Menena Cottin is a graphic designer, illustrator and author of more than 30 books for children. While her work takes on controversial issues, she translates the complexity of the world and makes it simpler for others. Her insightful collaboration for our Mestiza collection: “For Menena, Mestizo is the result of a loving encounter between people who have different roots, giving rise to a new being. Thinking about colors, what if black and white never mix? Gray would not exist, we would lose the value of the shadows. Everything would look flat. Trying to limit colors is like stealing light from life and darkening the world. Mestiza is the creation of original children who cease to have a single label to become universal. Each human being is unique and unrepeatable.”
