The History: Taznakht and Berber carpets are a real work of Moroccan art. Hand-woven by Berbers in the Atlas Mountains in villages around the City of Ouarzazat bordering the Sahara Desert. The Artisan: This vintage rug was made by a woman of a Berber tribe in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Approximately 20-30 years old, this Moroccan carpet would have originally been made by a Berber woman for personal use in her own home. She created this vintage rug with wool and small portions of cotton thread, and permitted herself personal freedom in expressing her own creativity and values through North African symbology and colors as she wove these designs. The Look: Its geometric pattern fits perfectly into a scandinavian design that needs to pack a punch. This Moroccan rug would look great in a living room or under a dining room table. The Feel: With a low pile, this vintage carpet has proven its resistance to the passing of time, maintaining the soft feel.
